JOHN REED
Received by Gottfried Mayerhofer through the Inner Word, the Lord guides us through the fifty-three sermons, and in doing so, through the entire ecclesiastical year. Through this we receive profound explanations from verses of the New Testament such as "The temptation of Jesus in the wilderness" (Matthew 4:1-11); "The transfiguration of Jesus" (Matthew 17:1-13); "The resurrection of Christ (Mark 16:1-8); "The end-times" (Matthew 24:15-28), etc. The appropriate text of the New Testament precedes each sermon. The exegesis of each text, as it is in the sermons, leads to the inner spiritual meaning of the divine word, which in many instances is not known to most human beings. A word from the epilogue characterizes the content of this book quite appropriately: "The word is like a mustard seed which during its growth keeps bringing forth something new, developing one miracle from another. The more you progress in knowledge the more this book will show you miracle upon miracle." Man must have a source of comfort in these tribulation-stricken times. This comfort can only be found in the infinite words of Christ.
